Aim
The Convent at Shirva was founded: to teach in the school, to teach Sunday Catechism, to prepare the children for the reception of Sacraments, to provide Social training to young girls and women, Vocation promotion and socio- pastoral work.
Today
Reading the signs of time we respond to the needs of the local church and the world, creatively. Social training centre was started with the purpose of helping the poor girls of the locality and prevent them from going to Mumbai and elsewhere as servants in order to earn their living. Besides acquiring skills in embroidery work they also profited from tailoring classes and value education. Now social training centre for young girls and women has changed into self-help groups where we concentrate more on women empowerment and self-reliance. At present we have 3 S.H.G.’s in which 60 young girls women engage themselves in hand embroidery work as their income generating activity.
